The policies and guidelines provided on this page are put in place to protect the quality and integrity of all forms of scholarly practice and research, as well as the reputations of the publications produced by Majlesi Journal of Mechatronic System (MJMS).  
Issues covered in this Publication Ethics page are:

1. Redundant Submission: Submission of the same work to multiple publications is unethical. It also wastes the time of the section editors and reviewers. Any article found to have/had been submitted to more than one journal, published by MJMS or another publisher, will be immediately rejected. Sanctions, such as a ban from submitting further publications for a specified period of time may also be considered.

2. Article Authorship: Those submitting papers should carefully check that all those whose work (in research or writing) contributed to the paper are acknowledged as contributing authors. No one who made a meaningful contribution to the article must be left out. Similarly, individuals who did not make a meaningful contribution should not be included as contributing authors for the sake of prestige or their own referencing quota. To clarify, the list of authors should include all those who can legitimately claim authorship.

3. Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the unauthorized and/or unacknowledged use or imitation of works, language, and ideas of others. Generally, in the context of article publication, plagiarism occurs when one researcher/author uses the words, language, or ideas of another researcher/author without making it clear within the narrative or referencing of the article that this has occurred; that is, passing off a piece of research or text as his or her own. All manuscript received by the MJMS will be checked by a plagiarism detecting tool to ensure originality of the submission.

4. Dishonesty: Authors must use their best endeavors to ensure the material they submit contains no fictitious data, reference omissions, or false statements. Authors must let the journal know any necessary corrections if required in the future.

5. Appeal against the editorial decision: The authors have the right to appeal against any editorial decision. A statement with rebuttal should be sent directly to the editor-in-chief.

6. Duties of the Section Editors: Section Editors must take all reasonable steps to ensure the quality of the edition. Section Editors’ decisions to accept or reject a paper for publication must be based only on the paper’s importance, originality, clarity, and the relevance to the journals scope. 7. Duties of Authors: Authors must report any previous related papers in their submission. Failing to do so will result in immediate reject. Also, any published article in MJMS, will be rejected and be deleted from the archive if such case will be found in the future.

Procedures for dealing with unethical behavior

1. Identification of unethical behavior

The editor in chief, and the section editors may identify a misconduct at any time. Enough information must be provided by anyone informing the misconduct. All cases must be investigated in the same way till a final decision is reached.

2. Investigation

The section editors must refer the case to the editor in chief who makes an initial decision. The editor in chief takes the responsibility to gather necessary information. He/she must also ensure avoid spreading allegations unless it is necessary for the procedure. The authors must be given the opportunity to respond in any cases. The editor in chief must decide on the nature of the misconduct.

3. Outcome

 In the case of a minor breaches, the editor in chief may issue a letter to the authors only without the need to notify their employer. If a serious breach is identified to have happened, the following procedure may be performed by the editor in chief:

• The authors’ employer(s) will be notified by email or a printed formal letter.
• The authors’ article will be removed from the MJMS website and all MJMS indexers will be notified of such case.
• An editorial will be issued in the MJMS website such that all who search the article and follow the relevant link, will see the notification instead.
• The authors will be banned for a specific duration or forever from making further submissions.
• A notification will be issued to the section editors and the reviewers who had reviewed the article before.
• A letter will be sent to relevant higher authorities for further investigation.
